Manage Your Subscription Plan

Complete your subscription activation after purchasing through Microsoft Marketplace, then manage your plan throughout its lifecycle.


Prerequisites

  • A Build a Doc subscription purchased through Microsoft AppSource or Azure Marketplace
  • Access to your organisation’s Microsoft account (the account used for purchase)
  • Permission to sign in using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)

Activating Your Subscription

Step 1: Complete Marketplace Purchase

AppSource

  1. After purchasing from Microsoft AppSource, you will receive a subscription confirmation email from Microsoft
  2. Click the “Configure Account” button or link in the email
  3. You will be redirected to the Build a Doc portal

Azure Marketplace

  1. Complete your subscription through Azure Marketplace
  2. Click the “Configure Account now” button
  3. You will be redirected to the Build a Doc portal

Step 2: Verify Redirect and Sign In

The marketplace redirects you to the Build a Doc /purchase page with a resolve token in the URL.

Verify the token is present in the URL — the portal uses this token to automatically retrieve your subscription details through the Azure MarketplaceFulfillment API.

Sign in with Microsoft

  1. You may be prompted to sign in
  2. Use the same Microsoft account that made the Marketplace purchase
  3. Follow the authentication prompts
  4. Once authenticated, the portal loads your subscription record

Step 3: Review and Activate

The portal displays your subscription details:

  • Subscription name and plan
  • Billing frequency (monthly/annual)
  • Renewal and cancellation options
  • Start date and current status

Verify these details, then click “Activate” to finalise activation.

Once activated:

  • Your subscription is immediately active
  • Billing begins through Microsoft
  • The activating user is assigned the Admin role by default

Step 4: Access Your Portal Dashboard

You now have full access to the Build a Doc customer portal, where you can manage your subscription and team access.

Managing Your Plan

Viewing Your Current Plan

  1. Sign in to the Build a Doc portal
  2. Navigate to AccountSubscription
  3. View your current plan details:
    • Plan name
    • Billing cycle
    • Renewal date
    • Current usage

Upgrading Your Plan

To upgrade to a higher tier:

  1. Go to Subscription in the portal
  2. Click Change Plan or Upgrade
  3. Select your new plan
  4. Confirm the change

What happens:

  • New features and quotas available immediately
  • Billing adjusts on next cycle
  • No data loss

Downgrading Your Plan

To downgrade to a lower tier:

  1. Go to Subscription in the portal
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select the lower tier
  4. Review the impact on your quotas
  5. Confirm the change

Cancelling Your Subscription

To cancel:

  1. Go to Subscription in the portal
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Confirm cancellation

What happens:

  • Access continues until end of billing period
  • No further charges after cancellation
  • Data and API keys are deactivated at end of period
